I saw Heaven opened;
I saw You upon Your throne.
You were sitting there in majesty
Everyone bowing low.
You stretched out Your scepter,
You invited me in;
I stepped into Your presence
And the journey began.
The roar was deafening,
The sound was stunning.
The worship of man and angels rose as one voice,
And You told me to come running.
“Come running, come running
Why are you standing so still?
I’m pouring out, Can you see it?
Come drink and have your fill.
I’m tired of seeing you
Running on empty all the time.
Come running, come running
Come drink while I’m pouring out the wine.”
I threw myself at Your feet;
Lying down, I began to fly.
My face was pressed into the floor,
Yet I have never been lifted so high.
I lay stunned at Your beauty,
I was overshadowed by Your love.
I could taste Your glory on my lips,
And I felt I could never get enough.
I don’t know if there’s a limit
To what this human shell can endure;
But each time I want to come closer
And let that boundary blur.
“Come running, come running
Why are you standing so still?
I’m pouring out, Can you see it?
Come drink and have your fill.
I’m tired of seeing you
Running on empty all the time.
Come running, come running
Come drink while I’m pouring out the wine.”
I dwell in a mortal body,
I go and work and play.
But what’s really made me alive
Are the times I’ve heard you say:
“Come running, come running
Why are you standing so still?
I’m pouring out, Can you see it?
Come drink and have your fill.
I’m tired of seeing you
Running on empty all the time.
Come running, come running
Come drink while I’m pouring out the wine.”
